Product Description

A collection of six different Hot Smoked wood chip flavours for hot smoking, all in 500g packs. The collection includes pure hardwoods and fruitwoods, giving you a choice of flavour for virtually any hot smoking project.

In order of flavour strength, the line-up includes oak, hickory, apple, cherry, maple and beech. The chip size does vary but is typically half a cm to just over a cm. The flavours include:

Oak - a strong smoke flavour which works with most types of food including fish and red meats

Hickory - a strong hardwood ideal for red meat and oily fish such as mackerel

Apple - a medium strength smoke flavour, ideal for white meats and poultry

Cherry - slightly sweeter than the apple, cherry is an ideal partner of game and poultry

Maple - a medium strength hardwood which works well with pork and fish such as trout

Beech - a milder hardwood flavour ideal for more delicate non oily fish or poultry

This instant wood chips larder is ideal for use in a hot smoker or on your barbecue. For best results, soak the chips in water for approximately 30 minutes before use, or use with a stainless steel smoker box. Both of these methods will inhibit the wood from igniting and promote richer, more intense wood smoke flavours.

Our chips are packed by weight (500g) in recyclable cellophane bags. sealed and labelled and packaged in a kraft gift box. The collection is supplied with our Guide to Wood Smoke Flavour with information on how to use wood smoke flavour and what works best with which foods.

All woods for smoking are sourced from managed estates or sustainable sources and the wood is completely natural and untreated. The woods have FSC/PEFC certification. Our suppliers undergo a stringent audit for each of the sources they select to ensure they are truly sustainable and of the appropriate grade.
